To provide society with leaders in orthopaedic trauma care and to provide the Fellows with a learning environment for their development to become productive members in the academic orthopaedic trauma community and effective orthopaedic educators. Presentation at Orthopaedic Grand Rounds once during the year.Completion of one research project for research day/submission to international meeting is required.Teaching of residents and medical students, including formal rounds teaching once/month on average.Clinical care of patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting.The fellowship concentrates on the treatment of injuries to the pelvis and extremities and their early and late complications. Vancouver Acute functions as a Level I trauma center. There is an emphasis on the assessment and management of multiply-injured patients, and major injuries resulting from blunt trauma. This fellowship is designed to allow the Fellow to increase their knowledge in the field of orthopaedic trauma surgery.
